I understand the sentiment around the Dax trade. There are few players that truly bled for the club during their time here, and he is one. However, just the Metro/RB teams before that 2015 team, as well as versions since, have one thing in common… they all failed to win the cup. All of them. The Red Bulls moved McCarty when they thought they could get the most for him. Kljestan failed in many key postseason moments. Felipe became expendable with the signing of Rzatkowski and the desperate need for backline depth. It’s hard when fan favorites are moved on. New York’s model is now one of developing players through their top-notch Academy, bookended by club icons in Robles & Wright-Phillips. Isn’t that genuine?
